New academic year has begun and the weather has certainly decided it’s autumn. Grey skies, rain and early morning fog has begun and our new courses are also beginning.
It’s been a great summer with lots of ‘office’ time at Bewiched which we also used to hold our first BSL info session, a time when people can come along and find out more about BSL, Deaf Awareness and our courses. This was very successful and something we will look to do next year as well.
We also took some time off and headed down to our favourite place Cornwall. Brilliant weather, kayaking along the coast with Vertical Blue, great food and service at the Twisted Currant and The May Tree and a visit to the Fleet Air Arm Museum on the way home.
Through the summer we have been continuing meeting our families and have seen some fantastic progress with signing and communication. We have a new family we are looking forward to meeting soon who will begin their family signing working towards improving communication.
We are looking forward to continuing our work with schools and nurseries and are excited to catch up with the children after the summer break. With lots of new resources and ideas to try out it’s sure to be lots of fun along with the learning.
Yesterday our monthly BSL Level 3 group had their first Saturday session. After some getting to know each other time the ‘real work’ began. Thankfully everyone was still there at the end of the session and we had also had lots of laughter as well as linguistics, signing and noting down homework!
Great news on the admin and paperwork front, we are so pleased our new admin assistant has started to tame and conquer the paperwork mountains and getting all the admin in order. This is such a tremendous help to us and is already making life easier allowing us to focus on the BSL and signing side of things.
