Autumn is definitely here, weather is becoming chilly, leaves are changing colour and falling, evenings are getting darker and the germs are spreading!
We have been coughing and sneezing this week, hoping a quiet day in the warm will help. Thankfully we have the fantastic Mel, our Admin Assistant, is getting the paperwork and filing under control as well as making sure we all look after ourselves.
All of our BSL Level 1 groups are getting to grips with the basics and can already hold a five minute basic conversations. As usual there is lots of laughter along with the learning as well as games and fun. The BSL FlashSticks are selling well, giving our learners a great way to practice and learn new BSL vocabulary.
Our families are all doing well and we are enjoying running the Peterborough and District Deaf Children’s society Deaf toddler group. This session we were given some new toys from BGL and Family Voice! The children soon started enjoying them and will continue to do so. Donations like this are so important to this small charity with the ever growing numbers of families needing their support. We are all very grateful.
We are working with some lovely schools and nurseries at the moment, they are all so welcoming and friendly! It’s great to see them become more deaf aware and learning some signs. St John Fisher and Samuel Pepys are brilliant, so enthusiastic and great fun.
